Decoding AVIF is quick, so this converter is fast despite AVIF’s slow encoding. JPG is understood by essentially everything — email, older apps, tools that still cannot open AVIF — which is the usual reason to convert. Any transparency in the AVIF is flattened onto the background colour you choose, since JPG has no alpha channel. The quality slider controls the JPG encoder. Expect the JPG to be larger than the AVIF; that size increase buys universal compatibility.
